Spalding peafowl are a cross between the India Blue and Java Green species of peafowl. These birds are considered hybrids because of the cross between the 2 different species. Hybrid birds tend to be a little bigger than either the blues or greens.
The percentage of Java green that a bird has in it's bloodline will either make the bird a Spalding (50% blue and 50% green) or an Emerald Spalding ( 25% blue and 75% green ) or higher. Our farm currently breeds percentages of 3/4, 7/8, and 31/32 green
